“More education and awareness about the value of design and what it can do”
— TING SIA
How did you first get into design?
I did a lot of visual arts in high school and was lucky to be exposed early to the Bauhaus and modern 20th century design which sparked my interest in design. It also helped that the art department had a lab full of the original iMacs and Photoshop 5.
What project are you most proud of?
I’ve been pretty lucky to be a part of some big projects over the past few years, each being memorable in their own way but if I had to choose it would be the rebranding for the Telethon Kids Institute. It was a great collaborative project and seeing the staff at the institute embrace it whole hearty and the results of the rebrand is definitely feel good moment.
What is Perth design in need of most?
More education and awareness about the value of design and what it can do. There are many challenges within our industry and I think that the best way to address them is as a collective voice.
